CDCLI Celebrates Weatherization Day

Centereach, N.Y. (October 30, 2018) – Community Development Corporation of Long Island, Inc. (CDCLI), celebrates Weatherization Day 2018. CDCLI takes this opportunity to highlight the success of its many programs including the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), a free program provided to income eligible Long Islanders, specifically the elderly and disabled. This program helps to make their homes more energy efficient. Improvements can include insulation, weather stripping, air sealing, boiler/furnace upgrades, and energy efficient windows and doors. CDCLI has managed and administered the weatherization program for Nassau and Suffolk Counties since the late 1980s, helping over 450 families each year.

CDCLI’s BPI-certified building analysts work closely with homeowners and landlords to assess their home and conduct an energy audit using a variety of tests and tools that determine the most cost-effective means of reducing energy consumption in the dwelling. CDCLI is often able to leverage multiple programs, to fully address the home repair needs of the household.

CDCLI is committed to supporting both renters and homeowners in attaining and sustaining homes that are healthy, safe, energy efficient and affordable. Long Island’s housing stock is old and in need of repair and as homeowners struggle to keep up with the cost of living, the more critical CDCLI’s home improvement programs become.

Funds utilized in these projects are from the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation, New York State Housing Trust Fund Corporation, New York State Homes and Community Renewal, and NeighborWorks America. CDCLI wants to thank our local and elected leaders for their continued support.
