Home Accessibility Options for Individuals with Disabilities
CDCLI’s grant program services the homes of Long Islanders requiring accessibility renovations. Our Access to Home program provides home accessibility modifications to income qualified homeowners with a disability or those living with a family member that has accessibility needs. These home improvements are designed to sustain one’s independence and safety within the household. Designated spots are reserved for veterans and Medicaid recipients.
Home modifications may include:
- Ramps and lifts, handrails, expanded doorways, stair glides
- Kitchen and bathroom modifications
- Roll-in showers, grab bars and seat
- Special thermostatic and environmental controls
Qualifications: Household income cannot not exceed income limits ; the homeowner and/or a family member must be physically disabled and/or a senior citizen with an age related disability. Click here for more information and income guidelines.
